![]() The Cape Charles Town Beach is located along Bay Avenue with beach access at the end of every block. Points of interest include the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, a 17.6 mile complex which spans the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge and Kiptopeke State Park. It offers a commercial center with shops, restaurants, antiques, museum, medical services, churches of many denominations, public beach, golf, harbor, marinas, boat ramp, sport fishing, summer rentals, B&B accommodations and the last remaining rail-barge in the country which regularly crosses the Chesapeake Bay to Norfolk. Since our inception in 1886, Cape Charles has evolved into a dynamic town capable of meeting the needs of a diverse array of residents, visitors, and businesses. With a land area of 2,817 acres and a population of approximately 1,000 full-time residents, Cape Charles is the largest of Northampton's five incorporated town in terms of both land size and population. ![]() Cape Charles is located in Northampton County on Virginia's Eastern Shore on a small peninsula, bordered by the Chesapeake Bay to the west, King's Creek to the north and Old Plantation Creek to the southeast. ![]()
